Scarlett Johansson - American Actress and singer (born in New York City on 22 November 1984) The versatility of her work in acting has earned the world awe, from dramas of the past, to thrillers and adventures. Johansson was born to an architect as well as a producer, was raised in New York City. Her twin brother Hunter were the youngest siblings of four. In her early years, she began performing. At seven she was already auditioning for a number of commercials. Soon after she enrolled at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and then took classes at the Professional Children's School in Manhattan for further training in her craft. When she was eight, she appeared alongside Ethan Hawke in the Off-Broadway production Sophistry and, at the age of nine she made her debut in film as Rob Reiner's North (1994). Johansson played the lead role in Just Cause (1995), after which she made her debut with Manny & Lo - a story of two sisters and orphans, who manage to escape. Her next film won praise for her performance as a teenage girl who suffered a disfiguring accident in The Horse Whisperer (1998) and gained more attention for her role as the cynical teenage outcast Rebecca In Ghost World (2001). Her education was in the Stonestreet Studios Conservatory of the New York University Tisch School of the Arts.
