Her birthplace was Santa Monica in California on 26 November, 1986. She is the child of Vincenzo Barba, her father and Valerie Barba. She was just six when she left her family moved into Point Pleasant New Jersey. She completed her secondary schooling in New Jersey at Red Bank Catholic High School. Following her graduation of Catholic University with a Bachelor's in Architecture, she continued her studies at the school. Also she started playing the violin at when she was four years old and was referred to as Violin Girl. A result of her musical performance, she was referred to as Violin Girl. She also taught children from the locality how to play the violin. She performed Free beginning in 1976 during the auditions for the sixth season of American Idol, at the age of 19.
