Ford enjoyed a lengthy and successful career as a heavy-metal performer after the band split in 1979. She started taking lessons in vocals. The first album she released on her own was 'Dancing On The Edge'. Ford's albums were not very popular, and she stayed away for several years. The smash-hit album Lita was released in 1989, served as the catalyst that led to her reemergence. Kiss Me Deadly and Close My Eyes Forever Both of which were huge hits, are two examples. However, she only had a short career and then disappeared from the music scene for a number of years. After releasing 'Black in 1995 and then a couple of years after that, "Wicked Wonderland" came out, and she was back. She released her latest album in 2016, titled 'Time Capsule. Guitar Player Magazine has awarded her The Certified Guitar Legend Award.
